A Whole Lot of New Material (w/ Riaad Moosa)

In this week’s episode, we got the opportunity to chat (and laugh) with comedy legend Riaad Moosa. We spoke about creating comedy during the pandemic, why being woke or having sensitivity about different cultures is nothing new in SA comedy, and why revisited the role of Cassim in New Material almost a decade later. 

New Material: Cassim (Riaad Moosa) is a young Joburg stand-up comedian.He has to balance the new marriage, a young child, and caring for his difficult, live-in parents. While Cassim’s is a hit with Johannesburg’s audiences, he yearns to spread his wings, expand his repertoire. His best friend and agent Yusuf (Joey Rasdien) plans a national tour for Cassim. Forced into an uneasy alliance with notorious Laudium businessman Shabir Sulabie (Rajesh Gopie) who fancies himself as a showman, Yusuf’s ill-fated tour begins

New Material will be in cinemas from 26 November 2021
